I’m Going to Talk About the Weather

I know it’s a cliche to talk about the weather, and probably not a topic that will win me more readers, but this is seriously ridiculous. They are projecting that it will reach 105 degrees in Portland today. That’s above 40 in metric (i.e. makes more sense) temperature. Tomorrow may reach 104.

The problem? Air-conditioned daycare is closed and I am home with the kids on “vacation”. I had wonderful plans for the zoo and the park and other outings that would allow us to enjoy some summer weather. Instead we are going to head to the mall. If only Samuel was old enough to see a movie. I wonder if other parents would mind if I brought my squirmy 14 month old son to see Ice Age… it’s a thought.

Anyway – enough with the whining. A few things I am thinking about today:

  • Happy to support my friend Lauren who is having a printing GC giveaway on her blog. Check it out here.
  • Grateful that Samuel is now walking more than he is crawling. Time to buy some shoes (I know, bad mother).
  • Enjoying Thomas’ sense of humor and the way he laughs uncontrollably when we watch America’s Funniest Home Videos together. Although, I find myself constantly saying “Don’t try that Thomas. That’s not safe Thomas.”
  • Looking forward to editing some photos from a fun shoot on the weekend. No kids involved so this was a challenge, but I think the clients will really like the results.
  • Relieved that I finally have a backup system for my photos with our new Mac. I know it’s been way too long.
  • A little tired of Yo Gabba Gabba – the latest obsession.

And…Excited to begin going through photos from our weekend trip to Lost Lake. Here’s a preview.

A Guest Gig and an Old Friend

I am so excited to be guest scrapping for Paislee Press this month. I just adore her clean and simple designs. Of course I had very little to choose from in the store because I already own most of it. Nevertheless I just couldn’t pass up these goodies that were just made for a photographer.

I’ve  jumped right in and made a couple of pages. Focus on photos and a minimalist design. Takes the pressure off and I love the results.

I also started deigning for an old digi friend this week. Holly McCaig has started designing again for Two Peas and was looking for someone to help promote her kits. Of course I put up my hand, started immediately and promptly fell in love with this background paper and frame.

In other scrapping news… I am still going strong with the P52 project at Jen Wilson Designs. Her store has been down but the challenges continue to be inspiring.

I also entered the “So You Think You can Scrap” contest…

…and then began to wonder where I would find the time for all of this. I may just be a little crazy. I’m already half way through the contest though and the kits they are offering for 50% off are just too cute to pass up.

It’s an illness.

Freebie Fun

So it seems that this blog has become more about photography lately and much less about digi scrapping. It’s a shame because I still enjoy making scrapbook pages.

I have had an excuse though, with both of my CTs on a little hiatus of late. But I am excited to say that they are both on their way back with cute new stuff.

And I have a couple of cute fun freebies to share to celebrate valentine’s day. Yes, I am late. I know. I know. Valentine’s day is a non-event in our house so it’s easy to miss it – not that I’m complaining. It’s just not a big deal for me. Since we’ve had a wedding anniversary, we really don’t need a Valentine’s day anymore. I’d rather celebrate on a day that just ours.

That’s not to say I don’t enjoy all the gorgeous Valentine’s digi supplies. I am a sucker for hearts and pinks and reds. It’s about the only time of the year when I can scrap with hearts on my boys pages and really get away with it.

Here are the freebies.

First – an adorable alpha from Lauren Reid on the newly revamped team blog.

And a fun frame from Tara.

And here’s a little page I made for hubby as we celebrate our tenth year of marriage this year (Gasp!). Click on the image for credits and journaling.

Hope you had a fun love-filled day.

Happy May Day and NSD Enabling

May is a great month – for me, not so much for Kei (Poor Guy). In the next three weeks we have my birthday (May 3rd), Mothers’ day (May 11th) and our wedding anniversary (May 16th). And to top it all off our little bundle of joy is due to arrive on May 19th. It is going to be one crazy month.

So I really shouldn’t be shopping for scrapping supplies. I have spent too much lately (although all on sale which is good, right?), but National Scrapbooking Day is conveniently timed on my birthday this year which gives me the perfect excuse. 🙂

Where will you be shopping this weekend? I have my eye on some stuff at The Lilypad and will definitely be downloading the free kit by Emily Powers at Memory Makers. Apart from that there’s really not much I need but I am highly suggestive right now so feel free to enable me. 🙂

And before I go, some enabling for YOU. My friend Tara Sroka is having a sale at her store so make sure you drop by and pick up some great stuff at great prices. Click on the image below to go directly to her store.

Happy May Day!

Digiland and CT news

A few things to share:

Lauren has just relased her full 365 Remembered series. There are three separate bundles to buy, each containing four months of kits and templates.

Tara is celebrating St Patrick’s day by giving away a copy of her “You Shamrock” kit. All you have to do is leave a comment on her blog.  Here’s a page I made with this very cute kit.

And, really? Only two views on this LO? I guess it doesn’t pay to upload on the weekend. 🙂

I posted a fun little piece of Mojo on Lauren’s CT blog today – you can check it out here.

And here’s a LO I made with Lauren’s latest kit – a fabulous boy kit called Sexy Tractor. I think my favourite part of the kit is the alpha. You can expect to see a lot more of that one. 🙂

I also splurged a little and bought my very first Dani Mogstad kit since I left the team. It kills me that I need to buy her kits now but they are just so good that I couldn’t resist. It’s a little bit girly but I felt an urge to brighten up my day and the colours were calling me.

And that’s a wrap folks. Have a great Monday.

Tempting Tuesday

It’s tempting Tuesday today at Tara’s store which means these papers are on sale for just $2.00. Although Tara created them with Easter in mind, I think these are just perfect for baby photos (I guess that’s where my head is these days). Click on the image to go directly to the store and while you’re there you can also pick up some valentines cards for just $2.00.

And sending good wishes to my CT friend Elizabeth who is due to give birth any day now (actually – could be any minute). Can’t wait to meet the little guy – at least virtually.

Oh, and still don’t have my 365 uploaded for the last couple of days. Have to do them tonight.
