Lucky Me

I have had a lucky week in the Digi World. Not only did I win one of the blog challenges at Little Dreamer Designs with this LO, but I also won a random number generated prize from Jen Wilson – a GC from giftcertificates.com (cashed it in for a Barnes and Noble GC – recommendations on good books appreciated.)

If you haven’t had a chance to check out Jen’s new line yet, you definitely should head over there. The Sock Monster finds are fabulous and only 75c per pack. Of course I could spend a fortune in that store (and, to be honest, I think I have over the past few months).

I have also been taking part in the regular challenges for the new line. They are just so inspirational and help me scrap those things I ususally don’t take time for… uh… like myself. I usually hate creating pages about myself. I feel so much pressure to create something meaningful that my children will cherish that I feel like I lose who I really am. I am not very touchy feely. I am not a hugger (although cuddles with Thomas are a different matter). I don’t like putting my sentiments into words. Actually I think that’s what my next page will be about. Jen has challenged us to an all about me page and I think I just have to be honest… I am just not good at all about me pages. 🙂

Anyway, my first two challenge LOs (images are clickable for a closer look).

I want to know if anyone else has the same problem. Do you LIKE creating pages about yourself? Hate it? What do you do to record stories about yourself? Or are all the stories you create in some way a reflection of you without an “all about me” page?

Let me know if I’m alone. 🙂

P365 Day 54 – Feb 23rd 2008

Kei and Thomas at their swimming lesson today. Yes, Thomas’ lips are a little blue. I guess it was a bit cold.

Although it doesn’t look like Thomas is enjoying himself he is getting more comfortable in the water. Kei said he holds on for dear life while they are moving around and his favourite thing is the monkey move – holding onto the side of the pool and crawling from one end to the other (that’s actually what he’s doing in this pic). I guess he still has more work to do before he is really comfortable in the water.

P365 Day 52 – Feb 21st 2008

Thomas was hiding from me in a cardboard box when I came home on Thursday. He is so funny these days. Always trying to make us laugh with funny walks and even knock knock jokes (who’s there? Boo! Boo Hoo!).

Refresher Course

I’m not sure how much I remember about the newborn stage. I’m sure it will all come back to me when the new baby comes but, for now, check out this great (funny) refresher course. (Thanks Dooce)

Although hosing the baby down is sometimes necessary… )

P365 Day 51 – Feb 20th 2008 and a Lunar Event

Overdue for a self portrait photo of the day and I like this one because It blocks out half of my puffy pregnant face. 🙂

Feeling better day – more (deep) sleep really does make a difference. And I think I have been having braxton hicks contractions. Hard to tell. Could be something I ate.

Tomorrow marks the official beginning of my third trimester. HUGE! Can’t believe I am only three months away from seeing my little boy. Ah, but so much to do in the meantime.

You can find anything on the internet

This is what we were able to see from our backyard at about 7pm last night. Yes, someone in Portland videotaped it and put it on the internet. Saved me the trouble. 🙂

P365 Day 50 – Feb 19th 2008

Three things he loves today.

  1. His new “Kewl” sunglasses. Kei bought them when they visited the zoo on Monday and they are the first pair he has actually been interested in wearing. At least right now while they’re new.
  2. George. Best friend who travels (almost) everywhere with us. George has been around for a long time now but has only become REALLY popular in the past couple of months.
  3. DVD of Singing in the Rain. It’s a little hard to see but he is holding his current favourite. Kei and I encourage it – mainly because we love the movie too and a break from the Wiggles is nice (although they still pop up on a regular basis). And what is not cute about a 2.5 year old saying “Moses supposes erroneously”? It’s also just so much fun to watch his reactions during “Make them laugh” and the “Good Morning song”. If you haven’t seen the movie for a while I highly recommend a refresher viewing.

Exhausted

I am crazy busy at work right now and am about to hit my 3rd trimester. The result is total exhaustion. Not the sort of exhaustion that means I will have a long deep sleep. Oh no, that’s impossible with an aching back and legs that won’t move into a comfortable position. It’s the type of exhaustion that means my body aches and my mind wants to shut down. Just three more months (!).

Thankfully I was able to find some mojo on the weekend and actually do some scrapping. I used photos from my 365 project in these pages. Actually the 365 project is a great scrapping tool. I find I already have the images and the stories available and then when I have a chance I already have part of my LO started. These 365 photos are more than just photos to me – they tell our day to day story.

Now onto the LOs.

This one uses some of Lauren’s free wordart and some other goodies from Jen Wilson.

This one shows off  my belly from a fun angle. I am trying to find unique ways to photograph myself during this time. I wasn’t scrapping when I was pregnant with Thomas and didn’t take a lot of photos. So much for the second one being neglected in the photo department.

P365 Day 49 – Feb 18th 2008

I had to take a day trip to Seattle for work today (yes, I have been VERY busy). I didn’t want to take my bulky camera through security etc. and figured I wouldn’t have a chance to take photos anyway.

Well of course the weather was fantastic and the flight to Seattle was incredibly beautiful – AND I was sitting on the best side of the plane. I had to make do with the camera phone but I’m pretty impressed with the results. The first pics and this next one were actually taken on the flight home when you fly closer to the mountains. That is Mt St. Helens in the foreground (the active volcano that erupted about 20 years ago) and Mt Hood in the back.

It was quite a challenge to keep the plane’s propeller out of the shot. I flew on one of those planes that seat about 40 people. You know, the ones that are almost the size of a bus and feel like a they could drop out of the sky at any moment…

I took this photo on the way up to Seattle this morning with the sun rising behind the mountains. Yes, I left VERY early.
