P365 Day 204 – July 22nd 2008

We are drowning in paint. Yes, our renovation is done but we are yet to move upstairs thanks to a mountain of a painting job that we would like to get done before we start dismantling our furniture for the big move.

These are the paint colours we have chosen so far. Choosing paint colours is not an easy process but I like the look of them now that they are all together. From left to right (all from Miller Paint):

  • Winter White for all trim (there is a LOT of trim) and the ceiling in a couple of the bedrooms
  • North Sea (Blue) for the bathroom – it’s actually more of a wedgewood blue than it looks here. The bathroom is already painted and looks great with the blue against the white tile. Phew! This gives me confidence that I may have chosen the right colours.
  • Pompeii Ruins (Lighter Blue) for the bedroom – this is a couple of shades lighter than the bathroom colour and, although I wasn’t really thinking we would do blue in the bedroom, it makes sense. Our furniture is a really dark brown so I think it will look nice. I have visions of beautiful beige quilt covers and complimetary accessories… after we have paid off some of the mortgage of course.
  • White Lightning (Cream)ย for the ceiling in Samuel’s room – makes more sense when you take ino account…
  • Baguette (Coffee/Beige) for Samuel’s room. I bought some really cute bedding from target which will look gorgeous against this colour. In fact I like this colour so much that I am tempted to use it for the whole house. Samuel’s room is the only other room with colour on the walls and it looks fabulous.
  • First Day of School (Yellow) for Thomas’ room. I was very much against yellow at first but this is an earthy yellow. At least I pray that it’s an earthy yellow. I guess we’ll see after the entire room is bathed in this colour.

We still have to choose a colour for the stairway/landing area. I think we are going to do a red (gasp!) feature wall and for the stairwell and then maybe the same colour as Samuel’s room for the other walls. Don’t worry, it will be an earthy red. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. oh i really like these colors! the blue in your room with the dark wood is going to rock! i’ve seen so many ads with the same type of thing, and they often do those colors on hdtv too…so it’s got to work, right? ๐Ÿ™‚ I can’t wait to see final photos of all the rooms, especially that red feature wall ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Hi Nicole! I love how soothing the color combi is! And I love the idea of cream and coffee for each other bedrooms–gives a different mood that’s each still very relaxing and warm.

For the record, I am partial to yellow, though for a room I guess I would go with a more mellow yellow, lol–like a pale yellow. Not sure what you mean with “earthy yellow,” but hope to see it soon ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. can’t wait to see pics of the rooms painted! from the swatches, it looks like the upstairs is going to be a relaxing retreat! i think you’re right going w/ the blue for the bedroom….it’s supposedly a soothing/sleepy color best suited for bedrooms! Which is the opposite effect of ..oh let’s say.. RED! ahhaha that’s gonna ROCK as a spotlight wall!!!!!! xooxoxo
