P365 Day 209 – July 27th 2008

The photo is blurry but I just love the expression on Thomas’ face. I took this photo while he was dancing to A Frog Went Walking on a Summer’s Day by the Wiggles. Thomas loves to dance.

P365 Day 208 – July 26th 2008

I love where we live. There are very few places on earth where you can walk through the local park one day and suddenly come across something like this. Something that wasn’t there yesterday but has been placed right in the middle of a baseball field as part of a seemingly random arts festival. This sculpture is made from fiberglass and the wide shot is equally impressive.

Later that night they held a free production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream by the fountain. We didn’t stay to watch out of respect for other people who may not appreciate the narration of an overtired toddler. We expect to take full advantage of this type of opportunity in the future.

P365 Day 207 – July 25th 2008

Crocs with Socks. I know it sounds like a Dr Seuss book, but sadly it is a part of our everyday life. For some reason Thomas insists on wearing socks with his crocs, regardless of the weather. Hey, at least his feet don’t smell as bad as if they were sweating in plastic shoes all day.

P365 Day 205 – July 23rd 2008

Samuel had his vaccinations at his two month doctor’s appointment. Poor kid had to get 5 injections and an oral vaccine. I don’t know who hates it more – Samuel who has to endure the pain, or mummy who has to hold his legs down and listen to the crying. Thankfully it was over fairly quickly and the only evidence was a funky bandaid on each leg.

P365 Day 204 – July 22nd 2008

We are drowning in paint. Yes, our renovation is done but we are yet to move upstairs thanks to a mountain of a painting job that we would like to get done before we start dismantling our furniture for the big move.

These are the paint colours we have chosen so far. Choosing paint colours is not an easy process but I like the look of them now that they are all together. From left to right (all from Miller Paint):

  • Winter White for all trim (there is a LOT of trim) and the ceiling in a couple of the bedrooms
  • North Sea (Blue) for the bathroom – it’s actually more of a wedgewood blue than it looks here. The bathroom is already painted and looks great with the blue against the white tile. Phew! This gives me confidence that I may have chosen the right colours.
  • Pompeii Ruins (Lighter Blue) for the bedroom – this is a couple of shades lighter than the bathroom colour and, although I wasn’t really thinking we would do blue in the bedroom, it makes sense. Our furniture is a really dark brown so I think it will look nice. I have visions of beautiful beige quilt covers and complimetary accessories… after we have paid off some of the mortgage of course.
  • White Lightning (Cream) for the ceiling in Samuel’s room – makes more sense when you take ino account…
  • Baguette (Coffee/Beige) for Samuel’s room. I bought some really cute bedding from target which will look gorgeous against this colour. In fact I like this colour so much that I am tempted to use it for the whole house. Samuel’s room is the only other room with colour on the walls and it looks fabulous.
  • First Day of School (Yellow) for Thomas’ room. I was very much against yellow at first but this is an earthy yellow. At least I pray that it’s an earthy yellow. I guess we’ll see after the entire room is bathed in this colour.

We still have to choose a colour for the stairway/landing area. I think we are going to do a red (gasp!) feature wall and for the stairwell and then maybe the same colour as Samuel’s room for the other walls. Don’t worry, it will be an earthy red. 🙂

P365 Day 203 – July 21st 2008

This is a photo of Samuel getting his diaper changed – really. I could provide you with the bottom part of the photo as proof but let’s just take my word for it.

This kid really enjoys getting his diaper changed. He will be all cranky, crying and whining, and then we put him on the changing table and at the first sound of the velcro opening he gets this huge grin across his face as if to say “Hey – you knew what I needed. Thanks for doing exactly what I was asking you to do”.

Happy kid.

Oh and that scratch on his face? That means it’s time to cut his fingernails.

P365 Day 202 – July 20th 2008

Boompha ball. Rules: swing a soft ball around to hit small kids running by, each time yelling “Boompha!” The entertainment level for toddlers is right up there with chasing them when they say “don’t chase me”. Oh, and don’t expect them to try and avoid the ball. That would reduce the fun factor.
